I'm Deb, and my work is based on an approach known as the Feldenkrais Method®. I am based in Oxfordshire.
Feldenkrais addresses the whole person by bringing about changes in the nervous system. Scientists call this process “neuroplasticity," which is the brain’s ability to acquire more efficient patterns of movement and action if given the right learning environment.
The Feldenkrais Method® creates the right learning environment for neuroplasticity to occur by asking us to pay very close attention to our sensations as we make small, slow movements.
Using this approach you can reduce pain, recover from an injury and the imbalances caused by surgery, or improve areas such as gait, balance, posture, mobility, flexibility and coordination.
The Feldenkrais Method® has also been shown to improve functional movement and quality of life in those with neurological conditions such as Parkinsons, MS or Stroke.
Over time, classes can help you to include more of yourself in every movement thereby reducing effort and strain. You find that you can move with greater ease, comfort and grace. Classes also enhance our wellbeing and reduce stress.
I have used the Feldenkrais Method® to rebuild my own movement after suffering a debilitating accident some 25 years ago. The daily pain I lived with for years has gone. I feel freer, calmer, more creative and happy. I can now enjoy moving and want to share the gift of Feldenkrais with others.
I am a fully qualified and insured, Guild Registered Feldenkrais Practitioner and comply with their code of ethics. For more information about the Feldenkrais Guild, visit their site below.
